Structured Expert Judgment Elicitation in Conceptual Aircraft Design

Disruptive technologies and novel aircraft generations represent a potential approach to address the ambitious emission reduction goals in aviation. However, introduction of innovative concepts is time-consuming process, which might not necessarily yield an optimal design for given flight mission within defined time frame. In order need structured more exhaustive search concept generations, Advanced Morphological Approach (AMA) its further enhancement was introduced earlier. It implies decomposition problems into functional attributes appropriate technological alternatives. Subsequently, these are evaluated combined solutions, then projected onto solution space. The current paper focuses on technology evaluation step by deriving integrating expert judgment elicitation (SEJE) techniques conceptual with AMA. For this purpose, first aim work justify developed method giving overview discussing most prominent SEJE methods their applications aerospace. Then, derived described applied form workshop use case wing morphing architecture. As result, space architecture configurations generated analyzed. conduction feedback serve as valuable findings both AMA similar research.
